Over the past 12 months the State Activities Council (SAC) reviewed the policies and rules for the safe conduct of activities in NSW. There is now one Adventurous Activity Policy that is supported by a variety of skill specific Rules. These Rules will be reviewed on a regular basis by the SAC to ensure that Scouts Australia NSW continues to meet community expectations and best practice within the outdoor recreation environment.

The new Policy and Rules came into effect on Monday May 2, 2011. There will be a one month transition period between the old policies and new Adventurous Activity Policy.
