Dear all,

I have received a fair degree of interest in the Parramatta Park Open on Sunday 12 September, which is terrific.

What we need to do now is to start to pin groups/sections down to what they can actually do on the day. The following is a list of suggested activities that could be done.

If each group could say look after one item, that would certainly be a great help.

1.    Promotional Trailer - Has been booked. Hand out brochures and general PR with the public
2.    Construct a Tower Platform  About 3m in height. Will need to provide Poles and ropes etc. Ideal for a Scout Troop to get marked off in their Green Books.
3.    A Rope Bridge. Not for access. Just a general idea on how it is done. Will need to provide gear. Again well suited to a Scout Troop.
4.    Suspended Flagpole (Pole off ground) Well suited to a Scout Troop. Again will need to provide gear.
5.    General construction items, camp table, fancy gateway, clothes stand etc.
6.    Climbing Wall Instructor. Climbing wall has been booked. Also will require help with harnessing kids etc. Venturers & Rovers
7.    Run a Sausage Sizzle. This is for the Scout participants only. Not the general public. Nominal fee charged just to cover costs. Will need to provide a BBQ etc. Good for Rover or Venturers
8.    Erect a patrol Tent/s (Scouts) will need to provide all gear
9.    Erect a couple of Bell tents (Scouts). Again will need to provide all gear.
10.   Perhaps set up a couple of Webbers and demonstrate how to cook up dampers. Could give out samples to Public. Good for Rovers. Again will need to provide all gear.

The day starts at 11.00 and finishes at 3.00pm, so its only really 4 hours of things happening.

The idea is not to build the everything prior, but more of a demonstration over the 4 hours on how we erect a tent, plan and build a structure, work together as a Patrol, Unit etc. Basically its Scouts in action, doing stuff.

Of course you may have another idea for a suitable activity, which is certainly welcome

Please come back to me in what area you can help with and we can go from there.
