Yesterday saw the unveiling of a new artwork in Circular Quay dedicated to celebrating the centenary of Scouting. Titled "Windlines: The Scout Compass of Discovery", the sculpture features a five metre tall weather vane above a giant compass and map embedded in the ground at Scout Place, Circular Quay. Some of Sydney’s most naturally beautiful areas are embedded in the 16 points of the compass, each accompanied by their direction and distance from Scout Place. The artwork was funded by entrepreneur Dick Smith and his wife Pip as featured below at the unveiling with Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Scouts Australia President Major General Michael Jeffery and artists Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford.
