Rover Review

The review of the Rover section is now underway. Graeme Fordham (Review Chair) recently met with Sophie Feint (2009 NRC Chair), Daniel Smith (2010 NRC Chair), Jeff Rose (NSW SC Rovers) and myself to develop the terms of reference. This document has now been edited and ready to present to the March National Operations Committee meeting. Once approved the final review committee will be created and then the hard work commences! The focus of the review is ‘Rovering towards 2020’. It will;

  • Identify the needs and desires of young adults in contemporary Australian society over the next ten years
  • Identify the needs and desires of current Rovers
  • Investigate what other young adult focused organisations are doing to attract and satisfy young adults
  • Examine the perception of the Rover section by both Scouting and the wider community
  • Review good practice both nationally and internationally in relation to programs for 18 – 25 year olds
  • Conduct a critical review of the current Rover program

From the data collected the review committee will then make specific recommendations regarding the future of the Rover Section along with an implementation plan. It is hoped that the report will be ready by November 2011.
