This course is designed for new Venturer Scouts that are approx. 14 years old and covers the course requirements for the Venturer Unit Management Badge. For Venturers in Groundbreaker or Pioneer Groups, the course qualifies as a Special Interest Area - Growth and Development.

This is a one-day intensive Course, HLTAID003 Provide First Aid, equivalent to Senior First Aid. Suitable for Work Cover, Venturer First Aid, Scout Blue & Green First Aid and per-requisite for Remote First Aid.

Scouts need to be over 14 to attend, preferable working on their gren cord

Everybody must provide a USI number

The Initiative Course forms part of the Venturer Scout Award Scheme

Participants must have the approval of their Unit Council to attend and are recommended to have completed their Venturer Skills Award prior to attending the Initiative Course. Participants should provide a list of their bush walking experience to GWS region office before attending the course.

Electronic E1s and full payment must be received at the GWS Region Office before closing date (or earlier if the course quota is reached). 

Late applications will not be accepted.

This course will be conducted outdoors and may include Rock and Water based activities. The course will involve hiking in rough terrain.

This course is designed for Venturer Scouts that are looking at joining their Unit Council and approx. 15 or 16 years old. Participants are recommend to hold their Venturing Skills Award.

The purpose of the Venturer Leadership course is to equip a Venturer with Leadership Skills for Life; in areas of scouting, school, work, social and personal situations.

Subjects include what is leadership, planning, organisation, time management, delegation, goal setting, decision making, problem solving, communicating, motivating, knowing yourself.

The course is residential (bunk bed accommodation), and there will be a formal dinner on Saturday night (wear full uniform, including decorations such as ASM). On Sunday, you will work in teams on a project and present your recommendations.

A weekend activity that will assist Venturer Scouts achieve their Venturer level Environment Bage. An alternative location is being considered in western Sydney. Final details to be confirmed.

GWS Venturers will conducting an Environment Camp to assist Venturer Scouts with the requirements of the Venturer Award Level Environment Badge. This course is limited to 12 places which will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

Venturer Scouts must have their Venturing Skills Award and have submitted a V1 form through their Unit Council to be eligible for this course.

Venturers will undertake a range of projects within the local environs of Bundilla Scout Camp and Toongabbie Creek. These projects will include but not limited to:

- Developing a Recycling System for Bundilla

- Monitoring Water Quality

- Weeding and Restoring Native Habitats

- Native Garden Restoration around Bundilla.

Venturers may be required to travel offsite to the local hardware store for supplies.

Venturers will be camping overnight and will need to provide their own tents and sleeping gear. Uniform is required for opening and closing parade. Venturers should bring old clothes, study shoes, hat, sunscreen, garden gloves and a water bottle. Garden secateurs, rakes and hoes will also be welcome but not mandatory. During the weekend, a comprehensive report will be compiled by the attendees. A USB thumbdrive or laptop will assist in completion of the reports. Food will be provided by the camp and Venturers will be required to assist in the preparation and cleanup duties.

While leaders will be present at the camp (Male and Female leaders are still to be confirmed), it is possible that Venturers working in small groups around the area may not be under direct adult supervision at all times.

All Venturers participating will be awarded with a certificate outlining their involvement on the weekend.
